Spring Focus: Zils
We will kick off our spring session with the Zils Workshop on Wednesday 3/11 (in place of class) from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. This is meant to give students some foundational knowledge and practice before we move into using zils weekly in class.
In the DDS style, students learn to layer zils on top of our established dance technique. Our technique classes maintain their full rigor and complexity—we don’t simplify the choreography or movement quality to accommodate zil playing. Take class with or without them!
Note: This workshop is not mandatory to attend other classes this spring, however it is the only time we will break down the basics of zils to this extent.
Also note: This workshop is open to the community on a first come basis so it’s not just for Dance du Soleil members!
