Dance du Soleil Fusion Belly Dance Technique Where tradition meets artistry — and the whole body comes alive.
Dance du Soleil is an exciting and unique style of dance born from over two decades of refinement. We blend the fluid isolations and expressiveness of raqs sharqi with the precision of jazz, and lyrical ballet — creating a technique that is both deeply rooted and continuously evolving.
A Curriculum Built From the Inside Out
Our technique didn’t come from a textbook. It was forged in the studio when founder Leyla Soleil partnered with Carnival Cruise Lines dancer Andrea Love, co-teaching classes where Leyla led the hip work and belly dance movement, and Andrea sharpened the footwork, kicks, and turns. That collaboration became the foundation of the DDS curriculum — and it’s been growing ever since.
What makes the story even richer: Andrea Love was also the dance teacher who helped shape Babette Soleil’s dance style today. Babette trained, competed, and eventually assisted and subbed for Andrea at her studio — which means when Babette stepped into the co-director role here in Atlanta, she brought the lineage with her.
What to Expect In Class
This is technique class — which means you’ll work. Expect an extensive warm up followed by belly dance isolations, footwork patterns, traveling combinations, turns, kicks, and layering drills. Expect your core to be challenged and your flexibility to grow. And expect to leave feeling like a dancer!
Who's This Class For?
Students with some previous experience do best in our technique classes, though it doesn’t have to be belly dance. If you’re not sure send us a message!
